Week 15
What did you learn this week?
In week 15 we did an activity with vinegar, air, and baking soda. We made lesson plans to go along with this activity also. With this lesson plan, we had to create some questions to ask while doing the activity with our future students. The goal of this activity was to see the weight of matter that is conserved. We performed the experiment multiple times so that we knew our results were correct.
How can you apply what you’ve learned to your teaching in the future?
I can apply what I learned to my future teaching because we created a lesson plan and I could always use this lesson plan when I am a teacher. Another thing to note was this activity involved a lot of trial an error. This can be frustrating for some students, but it can be extremely beneficial for them to fail and try again. This makes them think and ask more questions to get to the final product.
How can you apply what you learned to what you already know?
I can apply this new knowledge to what I already know by being able to create more lesson plans with this idea of the importance of trial and error. I may already have the science knowledge, but how can I better teach it? How can I ensure my students are learning and understanding and asking important questions? This lab helped with that.
